Susannah Mushatt Jones, born July 6, 1899, is the oldest woman in the world. She was born in Montgomery, Alabama, one of eleven siblings, but now calls Brooklyn her home.
But if you ask her what her secret to longevity is, she won’t offer up some miracle diet that she credits. Nope. She subsists on a daily regimen of bacon, eggs, and grits for breakfast, with a sign in her house proclaiming “bacon makes everything better.” While people might feel conflicted about that being a key to becoming the world’s oldest woman, many people (well, meat-eaters, anyway) won’t argue that bacon does make things better.
