Paypal,the largest internet payment company has extended its service offering to Ghanaians this week.In an exclusive interview by Reuters with Paypal's Head of Business Development sub-saharan Africa,Malvina Goldfield,He said "this should be good news to all Ghanaians".
Paypal in 2004 blacklisted Ghana,Nigeria,Senegal and other countries for abusing paypal services.
However in June,2014 paypal restored Nigerian status as one of the eligible countries to use paypal services.Nigeria is considered to be the second largest market place for paypal in Africa after South Africa considered to be the largest.
Ghana has been found to be the forth largest place after Kenya hence the extension of the service.
Although this service has been extended to Ghanaians the complexity to open and get it verified has been a difficulty.
Research conducted by this blog show that just a few merchants in Ghana have been able to open and verify paypal account in Ghana to its customers.
According to one merchant he claims,you can open paypal account with your real name,your ghanaian IP address and still withdraw funds in any ATM here in Ghana.
